Located within the Esplanade Park, near City Hall, the Cenotaph was originally built to honour the 124 Singaporean men (British soldiers born or resident in Singapore) who sacrificed their lives during World War I. Designed by Denis Santry and unveiled on 1922, 31 March.
Le Cenotaphe de Singapour inauguré en 1922 à la mémoire des 124 soldats singapouriens morts au combat pendant la Première Guerre Mondiale.

Video : Masjid Sultan, named for Sultan Hussein Shah, the largest mosque (for 5000 worshippers) located at Muscat Street and North Bridge Road, near Bussorah Mall, in Singapore originally built in 1825, replaced by golden-dome building 100 years later, designed by Denis Santry.
Plus grande mosquée de Singapour qui peut accueillir 5000 fidèles, construite vers 1924-1925 à l’emplacement d’une ancienne mosquée. Le dôme d’or représente Mahomet, et les quatre minarets ses 4 successeurs.

Chijmes, Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) and its Gothic-style chapel (1890-1904), Victoria Street in Singapore, founded in 1854, orphanage and school until 1983, these days it’s a shopping complex with restaurants. The chapel was deconsecrated and is now known as the Chijmes Hall.

Chijmes, Couvent de l’Enfant-Jésus fondé en 1854 à Singapour, avec sa chapelle de style gothique. Orphelinat et école jusqu’en 1983, devenu centre commercial avec des restaurants. La chapelle a été désacralisée, et il s’y tient maintenant des expositions d’art, des défilés de mode, des mariages, des spectacles, des concerts etc…

Sri Mariamman Temple in Singapore :
The gopuram is covered in plaster work images of that Hindu gang of three : Brahma, the creator, Vishnu, the preserver and Shiva, the destroyer. The Temple is dedicated to the healing goddess Sri Mariamman. Around October, the Thimithi Festival takes place here : devotes queue up along south bridge road to walk barefoot over burning coals.

Temple Sri Mariamman à Singapour :
Même si le décor du temple évoque essentiellement la triade hindoue (Brahma, Vishnou et Shiva), il est dédié à la déesse Sri Mariamman guérisseuse lors des épidémies. A l’automne s’y déroule tous les ans le festival Thimithi, pendant lequel les fidèles marchent sur des braises en signe de piété.

Sri Mariamman Temple (on south bridge road, between temple street and pagoda st.), built in 1827 by Naraina Pillai, is the oldest hindu temple in Singapore (Chinatown). Its gopuram (entrance tower) shows that it is in Dravidian Style (south India). Sacred cows are dotted about the boundary surrounding the temple.

Le Temple Sri Mariamman (south bridge road, entre temple st. et pagoda st.) a été construit en 1827 par Naraina Pillai. C’est le plus vieux temple hindou de Singapour, il est situé dans le quartier chinois. Son gopura (tour d’entré) est orné de 72 divinités et le mur d’enceinte est couronné de statues de vaches sacrées.

St Andrew’s Cathedral Singapore, English gothic style, Cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore, first began in 1835 but completed in 1861 after damage caused by two lightning strikes in 1845 and 1849.
